HOW TO PRIORITISE

"You do not need more time in your day. You need to decide."

Honestly, I have found writing down my priorities to be quite confronting. I have found myself in that 'limbo' phase where I get frustrated because I am not moving forward but then I take a step back and realise I am not doing anything to actually PROGRESS. Mmm, the truth can be a bitter pill to swallow sometimes.

"Why sacrifice what you want most, for what you want now?.”

Damn. Each time I catch myself slipping or giving into 'FOMO', I ask myself that question ^.

Setting priorities is simply the matter of deciding what is most important to you.

What is SIGNIFICANT to you?

What gives you LIFE?

What components of your life would you like to SUCCEED in the most?

The harsh fact is; not everything in your life can be a priority. We all need to make SACRIFICES... so to make moves, make changes.

In all honesty, my clients and work take up majority of my energy because they are the hours I fill my days with. Being a trainer isn't about making ends meet, it is about showing up for others and giving them the ultimate experience. I love this part of my job, but what I do struggle with is making sure I prioritise myself as well. Physical and mental wellbeing has always been my "first" priority. Exercising, eating well, sleep, gratitude practices and fresh air are all usually a non-negotiable for me. To be able to show up for others, I need to show up for myself because I know deep down that when I am on top of those things, I feel even more able to excel and serve.

Let's be real, I am human and no where near perfect. I have those days where I am unproductive AF. Maybe I will sleep in later, watch too many episodes of Suits or Gossip Girl, miss my training sessions or mindlessly eat. WE ALL HAVE THOSE DAYS. After identifying my priorities, it allowed me to hone in on my boundaries and the power os saying "no".

When you feel things are slipping, tap into your WILL POWER. Your bounce back rate is all about how quickly you can turn things around and get back on track. Catch yourself out. If you sacrifice an early morning training session for a late night out - ask yourself... was this REALLY worth it?

Majority of the time, the answer is no. Be strict with yourself and just say no. Look... I get it, it is a lot more easily said than done - but just try to set the intention.

BE AWARE. BE CONSCIOUS. BE CLEAR. Here are some tips..

PRIORITY TIPS

  • Write your priorities down; Pen to paper makes things so much clearer.

  • Be brutally honest with yourself. Remove any judgement. Immerse yourself with the hard facts. Ask yourself - is this aligned with the person I want to be?

  • Change your weekly schedule to revolve around those priorities. Working out a priority but lack time? Well, get up an hour earlier and make it HAPPEN. Is diet a priority? Designate an hour to meal pre for the following few days.

  • REVIEW! It is human to get distracted especially with our lives being so fast paced. Schedule in a review every few months so that you can check up on your progress.
